Edmilson Oliveira
Edmilson Oliveira is an Alagoas artist. He began painting at the age of ten. Self taught, he developed techniques inpsired by three artists he admires : Picasso, Miro and Dali. At twenty-six, he was hired by NORDESTA to teach young children and adolescents in the Girassol Project how to draw and paint. This experience allowed him to expand his knowledge and become a true artist.
In January 2011, he was invited to NORDESTA’s twenty-fifth anniversary in Geneva, Switzerland, where he exhibited his works. In collaboration with Swiss civil law, Edmilson has crafted sculptures of birds from recycled PET bottles. Upon his return to Geneva in April 2011, he made a sculpture and an owl for the association Bras-du-Rhone. Through different Brazilian states, he hosted numerous workshops in painting, mural painting and concrete sculpture. He often says that art is his world and he makes his home.
