The « popular » bakeries program launched by Nordesta fits perfectly into the ambitious "No Hunger" campaign started by the Brazilian president in 2003.
The objectives of this program are threefold: economic and social, plus it helps to directly improve the health villagers where this program has been put in place.
Such structures allow the population - especially the children - to be fed more regularly and copiously in schools.
Furthermore, the prodpect of a free and daily distribution of bread encourages the poorer parents to send their children to school.
These bakeries reduce the nutritional deficiencies of many children, thus improving the global health of the population.
